8 years ago Steve Irwin the famous “Crocodile Hunter” died, sending the world into shock and then sadness. Steve Irwin’s daughter hasn’t let tragedy hold her back; instead she’s keeping her dad’s legacy alive by dedicating herself to animal conservation.
Bindi Irwin is now just about to turn 17 as she wraps up her final year of school where she has been studying Business and Tourism. Post-graduation she plans to work full time at the Australia Zoo.
Looking at Bindi’s Instagram, where she has over 220,000 followers, it is clear that her father continues to play a huge role in her life. Bindi is constantly posting pics posing with all kinds of awesome animals.
In an interview with eOnline Bindi Irwin said, “With dad, he was the ultimate wildlife warrior and we admired him more than anything. I do remember he gave me a piece of advice that has stuck with me forever. He said, ‘You have to treat animals the way you wish to be treated.’ Which is so true.”

Bindi explains that her father was always working to teach people how to love and respect animals, including crocodiles and snakes. Bindi says, “When [Irwin] was working with venomous snakes or cheetahs, he just treated them in a [certain] way. It was never trying to overpower them or anything like that. He was just loving them.”
